character design and narrative illustration

August 16, 2012

I just completed a narrative based commission illustrating seven stories about one character, told by seven different people. Fun project as I got to design the character to be seen from seven points of view, and was told not to hold back on the colours. Mixed a dirty colouring style with smooth and graphic lines. Inspiration for the images are The Wizard of Oz illustrations by WW Denslow, stumbled upon them a while back and like the use of colour. Also got inspired by the old Hanna Barbera style animation cells. Would love to do work as free and fun as this again.
