Made it back to Laguna beach and had a blast jamming with fantastic artist and sculptor Louis Longi at his studio. He recovered some doors from a demolished house and asked me if I wanted to paint something. Freestyled this in 4-5 hours with materials he provided, mix of spray cans and paint and they will be on display at his space in Laguna Beach. Looking forward to future jamming and more collaborations with Louis and his amazing space. See link below for mural that I did there last year.

Finally made it back to Tokyo and got to jamm with fellow Ifreecans Collective Japan based member Aruta Soup. We took part in a 3 hour live art set together with 3 other artists and rocked the TrumpRoom till 3 in the morning.

I have painted with Aruta Soup for almost 3 years at different London live art events, but this is the first time he added bits of colour to my work and the results speak for themselves. Can’t wait to do it again. For more on Aruta Soup and his funky style see link below.

juno live art battle

August 17, 2012

Took part in a Live Art Battle held at Juno Bar, in Shoreditch, London and it was a great night, amazing crowd, good music and fantastic vibe. It will be the last live art event I do in London for a while, and got to do it in Black and White, a first in almost ten years as colour is usually my staple for such events. See more images of the night via the links below. Photography courtesy of Ambra Vernuccio.

live art @ lock 7

July 16, 2012

The Ifreecans Collective and guest artists participated in a Live Art event at Lock 7, Hackney on Sunday 15th July. Had fun painting with 3 of the original remaining members of the Collective as well as guest artists who we now jamm with often. Above is a collaboration between the 3 collective members, Eunie, Mzee GTS and myself. It shows my working process from sketch to final image. The event was also our last official jamm with Eunie as she prepares to leave London. See more pictures of us working via the link below.

Professional, or raw, I am documenting my new works as they progress, then getting professional pictures taken of the pieces as well. Something I started a few days back, will post more meat on the bones as the work progresses.

Finally finished this piece and will be putting up the final photos soon. But first, wanted to show a photograph of the work at it’s inception , courtesy of Ambra Vernuccio. I am starting to document my new works as they progresses, initially with quick photographs, as well as using Ambra’s skill to capture the work professionally. I use these visual accounts as a point of reference and they aid me to tweak and edit the piece as well as showing the working method which I am starting to adopt with this new body of work. Will continue documenting the stages and finished work and posting it up when I can. More images to follow

work in progress by kiboko HachiYon

Work in progress . Enjoying going back to using paints and mixed media, don’t have to be as clean as the illustration work I do. This freedom makes the work take a new voice and the piece evolves as I keep working on in. Part of a body of work I am preparing for summertime. More to follow
