I came across Emmanuel Jaal’s music after viewing his documentary WARCHILD. His story, message, drive, music and energy as a person is uplifting,. Another neo-african musician to watch out for if you have not yet come across him.

ALBUMS: ceasefire, warchild

FAV TRACK : gua

I was going to fill my blog with you tube videos of my selection of some of the hottest neo-african music, but thought that illustrating the bands and individuals would be good for the portfolio and also exercise my portrait skills.

First on my playlist is Sauti Sol….not your average east african bongo or genge sound. Listening to them live is worth its while, caught them last week at a gig in Covent Garden and looking forward to hearing more stuff from them.

ALBUM : mwanzo

MY FAV TRACK: lazizi

My illustrations and what they sound like can be seen below, check their myspace as well and show some support….enjoy

Say no to plain tees and hoodies…me thinks anyway……me and 5ftwnda did this for a friend…….to help drive home the message

new stuff….

Working with the Ifreecans Collective for the past one and a half years has heavily influenced much of my recent work and work ethic. My colour pallete has been all but transformed and we just feed of each others work, ideas and presence……long may it last.
